Majestic Winter ‘25 Black Division Playoff Preview
The Majestic Black Division has been a 4 team race and is completely wide open like the other divisions. There is no clear cut favorite in this division although Campbell United has been dominant all season long.
Campbell United finished with the top seed, but the No Fly Zone might be the most dangerous team in the division with their shooting. Meanwhile, Not Like Us is getting hot at the right time, and Out of Shape is looking to go back to back.
Let’s break down the playoff picture and see who has the best shot at winning it all!
Regular Season Standings Recap
1️⃣ Campbell United (5-1) – The most consistent team all season, plays team offense/defense.
2️⃣ No Fly Zone (4-2) – Best scoring team in the division, leading with 69.3 PPG.
3️⃣ Out of Shape (4-2) – The biggest team in the league, feasts on the offensive glass.
4️⃣ Not Like Us (3-3) – Peaking at the right time with a three-game win streak.
5️⃣ Halal Hoopers (1-5) – Lacked roster consistency and fell off in the second half of the season
6️⃣ Crew 7 (1-5) – Internal fighting and lack of communication cost them their season.
Team-by-Team Breakdown
1. Campbell United (5-1) – The Well-Oiled Machine
Campbell United finished the season with the best record at 5-1, due to their years of experience of playing with each other. Their ability to stay composed in close games makes them a tough out. In late game situations, they continue to play team ball and find the best shot possible. They aren’t matchup hunting or running many isolations throughout the game, which makes them unpredictable and difficult to guard.
Although Campbell United seems like the least athletic team, they are deceptively scrappy. The transition from the Red to Black division has been seamless and that fear that they wouldn’t be able to keep up with the speed and physicality has been proven a myth. Campbell United is the betting favorite to win this division, but they play against the only team who has beaten them in the first round.
X-Factor: Continued team composure. Will the size and athleticism overwhelm them in the playoffs?
2. No Fly Zone (4-2) – The Most Dangerous Team
No Fly Zone has been dominant offensively, averaging 69.3 PPG, while also locking down opponents defensively (54.8 PPG allowed). Their +14.5 point differential is the best in the division, showing they can both score and defend at a high level. No Fly Zone needs to be able to close out close games. Their 4 wins this season have all been by 10 or more points, while their two losses have all come in the clutch. No Fly Zone can light it up with their shooting any time in the game and can go on a deadly run at any moment.
Their biggest weakness is easily their size. No Fly Zone is the smallest team in the division and simply just do not match up well to the other three teams in the playoffs. They play incredibly fast and it has made up for their lack of size. Although the size has not been a problem, it is definitely an area of concern in the playoffs when the game slows down and is played more in the half court.
X-Factor: Can they get stops down the stretch?
3. Out of Shape (4-2) – Best Rebounding Team
Out of Shape has size and talent, and last season that was enough for them to win it all. They are missing a few pieces from that last season team though, so will their current roster be enough to pull it out? They are by far the biggest team in the league and lead the division in rebounds. Rebounds are the most underrated statistic and Out of Shape does a great job getting extra possessions and closing out the possession.
They play the slowest brand of basketball in the division though, slow going both ways. Their transition defense is pitiful and they don’t really run the break either. Will this help or hurt them in the playoffs?
X-Factor: Transition Defense
4. Not Like Us (3-3) – The Hottest Team in the League
After a slow start, Not Like Us turned things around with three straight wins to finish the regular season. They don’t blow teams out, but they find ways to win close games, which is a huge asset in the playoffs. Somehow everything clicked for this team during week 4. They are the only team to beat Campbell United and the only team with a real coach. They are a scary first round matchup.
X-Factor: Clutch play. Can they maintain their late-season momentum?
5. Halal Hoopers (1-5) – OUT
Their record doesn’t reflect their talent, but their talent hasn’t been showing up to play. They have struggling to muster up 5 players every single week. They went from an early contender to the first team out of the playoffs.
X-Factor: Showing up to the games
6. Crew 7 (1-5) – OUT
Crew 7 has had a tough season, but they showed flashes off potential. Too much infighting and lack of communication led to the early exit of this team.
X-Factor: Getting along with each other
